Management
Mr. Jaymal Khatau, a chemical engineer from the University of California, Berkeley, founded K. K. POONJA & SONS in 1970.
The company started manufacturing in 1986 and moved to its present location in Vapi, Gujarat, India in 1989. The plant is located in a chemical manufacturing zone.
Currently, K.K. Poonja manufactures fine chemicals that are used in the petrochemical, perfumery, pharmaceutical, resins and food industry.
The current management of the company comprises Mr Sanjay Khatau, and Mr Hardik Sampat. Mr Sanjay Khatau is a chemistry graduate from the University of Mumbai and an MBA from the Goizueta School of Business in Atlanta.
Mr Hardik Sampat is a chemical engineer and MBA from the University of Mumbai.
Facilities
The company’ manufacturing facility is located in a chemical manufacturing zone in Vapi, Gujarat. The company has two plots of 1000 sq meter each, one of which is used for manufacturing and the other for a warehouse. Additionally, the company has been allocated land in Dahej, Gujarat, (another chemical manufacturing zone ) which can be used for future expansion.
We operate on a continuous basis, with 3 shifts.
EHS
We are an ISO 9001:2015 certified company. Our facility is a zero liquid discharge facility and with an excellent record both with environmental and safety requirements. We conduct safety drills regularly to ensure a timely and prompt response to any emergency.
We have all the mandatory permissions required for chemical manufacturing, including environmental clearances and factory licences.
Unique Process
K.K. Poonja & Sons is a pioneer in the manufacturing of p-tert butyl catechol (PTBC) globally. Mr Jaymal Khatau acquired the technology from NCL( a research institute based in India) in 1972 to manufacture PTBC via naturally extracted Catechol from lignin. Over the years, the company has refined and developed this unique process perfectly suited for the manufacturing of PTBC. The process has an excellent yield and purity and the infrastructure required is significantly lower than the conventional isobutylene process. This results in lower overheads and operating costs.
